Competition Schedule
Competitions will take place over two days.
The first day will feature preliminary competitions for the International Yo-Yo Open and the New York State Yo-Yo Contest as well as the Sport Ladder contest.
The second day will feature the final round of competitions as well as world-class non-yo-yo performances. At the end of the day, we will crown the International and New York champions.
Freestyle Competitions
The freestyle competition is designed for advanced players who want to show off their skills in a performance set to music.
We haveput together a lot of information about juding for this contest. Please be sure to read and understand all the elements that the judges will be looking for when you're preparing your performance.
Sport Ladder
The Sport Ladder Divsion is a great division for those who would like to compete, but do not wish to perform a freestyle (as contestants do in the 1A and X Divisions). This division is divided into two parts: The String Trick Ladder and the Looping Trick Ladder. Contestants may compete in both with one registration (and, in fact, we encourage you to do so!).
Just some things to know about the ladder:
- Each ladder is composed of 25 tricks in increasing difficulty.
- Contestants are allowed only ONE miss in each division of the ladder.
- Contestants may not exchange yo-yos during the course of any single ladder (but can switch yo-yos between performing the String and Looping Ladders.
- Missed binds count as a missed trick.
Below are the trick lists for these competitions:
